Jeff, a few years ago they added the second version of thw 1923-24 Powell to the SCD (the one with the stands). I have been wondering the same thing as you, as I was always under the assumption that the one with stands was 1921 and the one with them blacked out was the 1923-24. I have no idea what prompted them (SCD)to make the addition, as I think the card with stands is always a 1921 card.

I have a stands in background card that has been graded by SGC as a 1923-24 but I am sure it isn't.
