Frank- an even better question is why can't a professional grading service do a better job? You wouldn't allow your doctor or lawyer or accountant to do such sloppy work, so why can't cards be graded with greater efficiency and fewer errors? It's not brain surgery, and if you spend the proper amount of time with each card you can get ever so close to 100% accuracy.
