I was with all of your logic until this: He just needs to establish himself as a hitter.

That's a pretty big "just." It's not like that's a given. There have been a ton of players with a lot more promise and potential who never established themselves as hitters on the major league level.

I'm not saying that your conclusion won't prove true, just that you threw a pretty big "if" in there.
