Jim- it's been a long time since I read Cartwright's HOF plaque, and I have to say I'm not certain he did all the things he is credited for. There may be a bit of mythmaking at play here- not on the magnitude of the Doubleday debacle- but establishing 9 innings and 90 foot basepaths may have been more a joint than an individual effort. Fact is, we just don't know.
