I think reprints are good for the hobby, so long as they say the word reprint prominently on the back (I know it often gets rubbed out by scammers, but it is usually pretty apparent)
By having reprint sets, awareness of rare vintage cards is increased several-fold. People who can't afford the real deal but enjoy the style and artwork of the old cards can pickup a set and hold them over until they can buy in for real.
