Default So...how does SGC grade cards?

Posted By: barrysloate

Clearly there is some subjectivity for the grade SGC 10. Most experienced collectors know what a 30 looks like, and what a 20 looks like. But once you get to a 10, almost anything is possible. One card may have a Mint front but significant paper loss on the back; another may have a clean back but five heavy creases.

When it comes to noticeable paper loss on the front, I guess it's a judgment call and there is some inconsistency, as Dave has pointed out.
