I think I'm a similar collector to you, Chuck. I recently got back into the hobby, and am working on a mid-grade HOF collection. I just read The Card, and really loved it. There's a lot of information that many of the posters on this site undoubtedly already know, but for newbies, and collectors with more modest (read: "my wife is never going to approve the purchase of a high-grade Ruth/Cobb/Mantle/etc.") goals, The Card is an interesting, and even -- dare I say it? -- inspiring read.
