JK,

Your experiment is flawed. If the ice in you glass extends OVER the rim of the glass when it is frozen, it will indeed overflow the glass when it melts.

The part of the ice cap currently below water is not a concern for us. The parts currently higher in elevation than the sea level... bigger issue.
