I'm sure many caramel cards were damaged and then destroyed after mice and rats nibbled on the cards. I know I have seen many half-eaten cards on eBay over the last 10 years. I'm sure the rodents made quick work of any caramel cards that were still packaged in there original boxes with candy or caramel.
