Default Who Will Be The Next Yankee Manager?

Posted By: Jay

The offer was hardly an insulting one. With the team the Yankees have, getting to the playoffs is not a success, advancing deep into the playoffs is. Torre has not had success in a while. The contract offered him made him the highest paid manager in baseball if he achieved nothing and offered him a raise if he made it to (not won) the world series. Performance based compensation is the way many of us are paid--why not Torre too.
I would hate to see Mattingly become manager. Great guy, excellent player, bad karma. What I would love to see is the Yankees ask the Angels for permission to talk to Mike Scoscia. Otherwise, I think Joe Girardi or even Larry Bowa would be good choices. A firey manager might do the team some good. Keep alcoholic guys from St Louis away from the Yankees.
