barry the whole point is no one knows what the market will bear - I've had many cases where my offer is turned down and the item ends for less. According to your logic, denying the seller the ability to end the auction early is denying him the ability to get the most for his card. As long as the seller has the free choice to take the offer or not, I don't see what the problem is.
