My understanding is that the Padres-Rockies wild card tiebreaker game is considered an extension of the regular season, as opposed to the beginning of the postseason. The players' performances in the game will count against their regular season statistics. For example Matt Holliday, who was leading the NL in batting average as of the end of today, will need to do better than 0-for-5 tomorrow in order to retain the crown.
