ChadI hadn't thought of that, but it's an excellent point. The relics of guys like Jesse James or John Dillinger or Billy the Kid are in that same vein. It's interesting how over time the villains get lionized. One of the great romantic heroes of Negro League ball is Dave Brown, mostly because he killed a man and then, while on the lam, played for various semi-pro teams all across the country. At the time, I bet he didn't seem like such a romantic figure, though.
