Ted ZanidakisHank Gowdy was a pretty good player and indeed he was one of the first to have a great WS; as, you well noted.
But, I hope you appreciate that I'm trying to consider career STATS over the player's entire career WS performance.
Otherwise, I could have singled out Ruth's 1928 WS performance where he hit an amazing .625....with 3 HR's in 16 official AB's.
I will defer to you, though, as far as one WS performance goes....Gowdy preceded Stengel as "Mr October".
Thanks,
TED Z
