Peter C, I was being sarcastic. I'm an A-Rod fan.

Peter S, whether I want A-Rod up in that situation isn't necessarily the question, I don't think.

I want Reggie Jackson up in that situation. But Reggie Jackson couldn't carry A-Rod's jock over the course of an entire season. If I can't have Reggie, I take Tommy Henrich. Then DiMaggio third.

But if I'm picking a team from scratch, am I choosing Jackson or Henrich ahead of Joltin' Joe? No way.

If I had to start a brand new franchise, and had to take a current Yankee as my first pick, I'd be seriously torn about whether to take A-Rod or Jeter. Jeter is a great player, a leader with unbelievable intangibles, but not a power guy or a good defender. A-Rod puts up Bugs Bunny numbers but it seems to be easy to get in his head. Ultimately I don't think you could go wrong either way.
