I have one theory on why some of the old tobacco cards are stamped and this came up when I read an old letter from Jefferson Burdick to Lionel Carter. I think that some of the old collectors stamped the cards because when they wanted to do trading they would sometimes just ship off their whole collection of T206 extras (or whatever cards) to the other guy and they would stamp them so the other guy wouldn't get them mixed with his cards.
