Joe DrouillardThanks John, Sean, Pete and Joe for your imput and advice. I paid $87.00 for the card, and I'm not upset about the grade. As some of you know I've only been collecting T-206s for a short time and I'm trying to get a good feel for what to pay for a card. When I saw the card for sale I knew it was a more difficult card to find I wasn't sure what to bid based on (MC) qualification. It looks like what all of you said is correct. In essence, the market determined the correct value for this card.
However, I don't think I phrased my initial question correctly. As I understand it, a miss cut is a factory error, not an attempt at alteration. If the card was trimmed it would be returned unable to grade. To me a MC seems like a less serious flaw than writing on a card. What I hear you telling me is that a qualifier is a qualifier and there is a substanial discount (approximately a 2 grade drop) that I need to consider, no matter how rare the card.
Thanks for your help.
Best wishes,
Joe
