I'm not sure where the reference to short printed 1974 Topps cards comes from but there is a lot to talk about with Topps other than the annual, regular issue cards. The regular cards from the 70's era feature almost no short prints (70, 71, 78, 79 and 80 do) and even then they are so plentiful as to be irrelevant. I was making the point about how the print run might have progressed and resembled issuance in series.
