Bill StoneI had to share this ---I had just started reading Anne of Green Gables when word of the bridge collapse in Minneapolis came on the air. By the time I got to page 21 I read the following line ( this is when Anne is being driven home from the station):
" Oh,here we are at the bridge. I'm going to
shut my eyes tight. I'm always afraid going
over bridges. I can't help imagining that perhaps,
just as we get to the middle, they'll crumple up
like a jacknife and nip us."
Remember this was published in 1908.
