I have a question about the paper insert and the relative difficulty associated with each backing. The majority of mine have a white background while a few are red or blue. I also have one or two with white backgrounds and red printing.

There also seem to be two manufacturers, Whitehead & Hoag or Ehrman Co. Were the majority of these pins produced in the New England area? I know the Ehrman co headquarters were in Boston and a manufacturing plant was located in Milford, New Hampshire. It seems as though the backs have little or no bearing on the prices of the pins.
