I'd add:

Parking is ample at the center so no worries there.

You absolutely should buy a VIP pass even if you are there only one day because (1) it gets you in earlier and (2) if the warden can grant you a little more work-release, you can hit another day.

BYO snacks and food. What they serve there is the food prison riots are made of.

Do NOT park at the hotel and try to hoof it over there--it is a lot farther than it looks, and a rather desolate walk too.
