barry arnoldThanks for asking, Joe.
Heidegger has been most helpful to me in this arena.
He maintains that the determination of the being of the essent comes to
characterize all comprehension and statement of the essent. The hypokeimenon
is the forerunner of the subsequent interpretation of the essent as object.
Apprehension, noein, is taken over by the logos in the sense of statement.
Thus it becomes the apprehension which, in determining something as something, thinks-through (durch-nimmt,durch-vernimmit) what it encounters,
dianoeisthai.
Now, I must defer to Jim B.'s eastern philosophical take on this.
all the best,
Barry
