Okay Guys,

I've recieved an e-mail asking me about the gross part of the above post. I suppose it's late enough in the day where I can tell you guys.

The Chinese also made the punishment to fit the crime. So if you were caught stealing, they would cut off your hand. They would do the same to members of your family.

With that severe of a penalty, I imagine that the crime rate was pretty low.
