leonI will take a stab at it but you might already know what I do. Burdick didn't list a W518 in the ACC. He skips from W517 to W519. Bert Sugar might have been where this designation started in his venerable Sports Collectors Bible, 1979. He had 4 versions and it was at least starting in the 2nd one. I only have volumes 2 and 4 so can't say if it's in the others. He described W518 as: Baseball Photo's 1947 2" or 2 1/4" by 2 1/2" ...blue portrait. We know these today as Blue Tints and they are listed as R346 by both Burdick and Sugar. Burdick said R346 was: Baseball Players, blue port. plain backs, some numbered. Do you have a picture of what you are calling W518? My guess is, maybe, Sugar was being his normal self and wanted to fill in the # "W518" to make the/his numbering system tidy and continual. He didn't have the same succinctness that Burdick did. So may I offer the potential answer of "blue tint?" ...best regards
