BobIf the Yankees can't get Clemens and if they do, if he is not as good as last year or previous years, they will be watching the playoffs from their respective estates. Their starting pitching, even if Mussina and Parvano return and stay healthy is just not good enough. The Bronx Bombers have a lot of firepower in their lineup but they will lose a lot of 8-6 games with that staff. This is what George gets for raping his farm system of young pitching talent over the past few years to acquire big name, over the hill, players.
The Twins, on the other hand, have three or four young prospects toiling in AAA this year, any one of whom could start for the Yanks in their rotation. It is all about farm systems. The Yanks are old and getting older. Their glory days are through. The Twins, Indians and Tigers are doing it the right way, through the farms and wisely adding a veteran here and there who fills a spot and doesn't cost a fortune.
Sorry Yankee fans...
