That particular game was of interest to a lot of people. I live on the west coast and I like watching other teams play. I normally don't watch Sunday night baseball but it was Dice-K and the Sox against the Yanks, I'm sure that factor alone increased their viewership.
ESPN is going to show what they feel is going to bring in the greatest market share. Unfortunately the Yanks and Sox are two teams that draw a lot of fans to the tube. Just out of curiosity, do you know how many Sunday night games last year had the Yanks or Red Sox (or both)? Are the numbers really that bad? ESPN doesn't rule me! I chose what I want to watch. If ESPN has something that's of interest to me, then I'll watch ESPN.
