Ken W.Yeah, Palmeiro kind of snuck up on me. I knew he was a decent player, but couldn't believe when he reached the 3000/500 milestones. I just never had that gutteral feeling of his being in the upper echelon, all time. Kind of the way I feel about Jeff Bagwell, Fred McGriff, and Dale Murphy. As for earlier players, Gil Hodges might also qualify as always-a-bridesmaid.
