Donlin hit over .300 in 10 of his 12 years. He hit .161 in 1914 for the Giants, his last year. 1906 was his 7th season hitting .300. He doesn't play in 1907. In 1908 he hits .334 in 155 games (Giants have that extra playoff game in '08 with the Cubs, ya know... 155 games in a 154 game season), second best in the National League. Not bad for a fellow who sat out a year. Wagner topped the league with .354, Doyle's .308 was 3rd best that year. I think only 5 guys hit .300 or better in the NL in 1908.
