Dan BrettaJoe, the racism towards American Indians went beyond the 19th century. Guy Green's Nebraska Indians Baseball Club is an area of my research and collecting (in case you hadn't noticed 
) this club was around from 1897 to the early 1920s on a continual basis and at some point in the early 1930s they were reassembled for a couple of years. Some of the things that they were subjected to were accusations of theft in many towns that they came into even though they rarely left the ballpark...they would set up tents and stay at the park because they couldn't stay in hotels, the fans would taunt them with racist slurs and "war whoops".
