you have to join the pledge class.
pledges are considered "raw" or "ungraded".... ultimately they work their way to the sought after rank of "slabbed" - and at that point they are taught the secret handshake.
Similar to secret societies such with fearsome names like the skull and bones...
maybe our proper name is the dreaded and scary 'crease and paper-loss' ?
ah - but that could be the topic of discussion for our next meeting.
