Where I grew up, a lot of people wouldn't have accepted the $100 for returning something that wasn't theirs.

As the driver may have been working on his own time, I don't doubt he deserved compensation-- but it was tacky to tell the press how much someone tips. Many employers would fire employees who went to the press to tell how much named customers tip.
