My girlfriend spent half her childhood in Waco and the other half in Illinois. She never speaks of the time in Waco. When I bring it up, I get the look. She hates everything Texas. Even Whataburger.

(That said, I've had some great times in Texas. Austin and Dallas and Ft. Worth. I'm hoping to get to the far south of Texas one day soon to see some desert birds and other critters and take a picture or two of them.)
