I think it depends on the subject....I personally do not collect photos that have the borders cut off (if it has borders). I see lots of wirephotos for sale where the subject of the photo was cut down so it can be prepared for publication. If it's someone like Joe Jackson then the cropping or cutting is probably inconsequential to the collector.
