I don't think this is a true overprint. The printing plates are mirror image, so the correct image is transferred to the surface of the cardboard.

This is mirror, so it didn't get printed by a plate.

I agree that it couldn't soak through, too much detail, and the cardboard is too thick.

That leaves what I think happened: This card got placed face down on sheet of cards with wet backs. Specifically, wet green. The wet ink transferred to the front. Incredible centering for this.

Maybe this is a type of overprint, but I think printing comes from a plate.
