Glen VCuyahoga Valley National Park is nice. It's just south of Cleveland. Some nice hikes, historic canals/locks, waterfall, covered bridge, etc.
On the historic side there's the President Garfield Nat'l Historic Site just east of Clevelend. Towards Canton the McKinley monument and presidential library.
The NFL Hall of Fame was already mentioned. On the strange side there's the Goodyear World of Rubber musuem.
For fun, Cedar Point - "Rollercoaster Capital of the World" - is ~60 miles west.
