Tom HinesWhile I have enjoyed watching many great games and players over the years (mostly on TV as the Norfolk, VA area does not draw too many big leaguers), I have my Aunt to thank for one of my favorite baseball stories.
She was about 9 in early 1944 and with her family at a Norfolk Tars ballgame when a fire broke out in the bleachers. Where she was sitting the only way out of harms way was over the railing to the field. Her father lifted he over the rail and into the arms of Norfolk Tars Yogi Berra (17 at the time) onto the field. Needless to say my family has been big "Yogi" fans eversince.
