Actually, I had something happen to me a couple of years back, same scenario. I don't remember for the life of me what I paid for or how much anymore but the same deal. I never got my card but they offered me 1/2 a refund. It's quite possible they were just nice people. But that sounds like a nice little scam as well. Never thought anything of it until I just read your post.
