Frank WakefieldOk... the West Virginia stuff I recalled from reading. 1910 is the year of the cards, knew that. And I recalled Virgina Valley League, and it just had to be at the bottom rung of the minor league ladder, class D.
The rest I got from The Encyclopedia of Minor League Baseball, by Johnson and Wolff. Mine is a 1993 edition, the first. It is quite dispensable if all you care about is the major leaguers, and big league stuff. Indispensable if you care about the minors, too. It doesn't cover EVERYTHING that happened, but does list cities that had teams, the leagues and when they existed, most of the standings, a few of the league leaders on occasion, and a few other interesting facts, interesting that is if you care at all about minor league baseball. An individual's baseball library would be incomplete, in my estimation, without this book. ABE and Alibris show a couple of copies, one somewhat expensive.
And I appologize about the earlier post, I was in a "Monty Python"ish mood.
