Your "Golden Oldie" Chevelle V8 looks pretty impressive to me.
My 1960 T-Bird engine is stock.....when it was new it developed 300 bhp @ 4600 rpm.
It still has quite a bit of power....but, it's fun just cruising around in it.
My 1957 I have done quite a bit of "under-the-hood" work on. It has the bigger 312 V8
engine offered in '57.....that developes 245 bhp @ 4500 rpm. And has a 3-speed floorshift
with Overdrive. In overdrive, cruising at 65 mph, I get 20+ mpg.
I get that kind of mileage with this T-Bird since I overhaul its 4-barrel Holley carburetor.
I disassemble it into about 100 pieces and really clean it up every few years.
