There are less than 120 Boston Gaters known.
The first year color series(1912( with the suit care is far and away the rarest.
At least one card had never been seen. Albeit all cards have been
seen on the advertising posters which have appeared in a cadre
of different auctions (see Robert Edward auctions-2005)
The next series appeared in 1913 and this is the more common
color cards. Usually 3-5 of these cards appear in major auctions
each year.
Finally, two years later a small series of black and white (sometimes
seen as sepia green cards appear).
We are fortunate to own a large number of Boston Garters including the
only uncut sheet ever found of 1912 players. This sheet has been
featured in several major books on collecting and includes 4 players.
There are a number of articles that have been publsihed on the Garters
including an infamous Trader Speaks article auhtored by legendar
St. Louis collector Charles Buck Barker.
