I have no clue whether John's coin bank is authentic or not, but I purchased a reproduction of this bank at an Akron department store (a defunct chain somewhat like a third rate KMart) in LA area in the mid 1970's. I still have it, and it does not have any 'reproduction' identification on the item. To wrap things up in a little tiny rubber band ball, there are reproductions out there without any indication that they are reproductions.
