The best way to tell trimmed cards is by looking at tons of cards over and over...however some of the telltale signs are:

1. wavy cut (almost always trimmed)
2. Two corners are sharp and 2 are rounded (they don't wear this way naturally)
3. major size variance....be careul as some issues do have size variances and are not trimmed....although many times these won't get slabbed due to miminum size
4. Anything in a PSA8 or above holder (that's a joke...most of the times)

If you look for numbers 1 and 2, and continue to handle cards all of the time it will become easier. I still can't tell sometimes and I have handled 10's of cards good luck out there......and remember caveat emptor
