As with card prices, 'all-time great' polls are unreliable when taken at the height of the excitement. For example, you don't take a poll as to who is the greatest quarterback ever the day after Joe Montana throws the winning touchdown in the Superbowl. The person who just won the award or just set the record will always receive an in the heat of the moment bounce that evaporates before long.
