circa 2000, I bought the ex-Jim Copeland/Sotheby's 1873 Boston Bostons Team Cabinet (Al Spalding, both Wrights, etc) for $3,000 and resold it through MastroNet for $1,500. I assume it's worth quite a bit more than $3,000 today.

Honestly, I don't have hard feelings over the transactions as things sell more and less than you expect and it will usually about even out.
