I think there is far less "you are what you collect" here than you portray. There are various approaches to the hobby, different preferences and priorities and different budgets.

Those with the most valuable collections are not necessarilly the most wealthy individuals. Sometimes, card collectors own little else than their cards. Other times, a person who has deep pockets may be vested in projects with greater potential than cards.

I read these posts as a sharing of different areas of collecting enjoyment. And I enjoy the insights, struggles and successes detailed.
