Case in point: I wanted a certain sum for a Mello Mint I had, I held out through several offers, I finally got my price. Had I not gotten my price, I'd have just kept the card. IMHO, card prices on good prewar stuff tend to escalate because folks simply won't put them out there unless it is for their price, leading to bidding wars over cards folks want when they do come to market.
