andy beckerperhaps i am in the minority here, but i think a complete set should actually be more expensive than the sum of it's parts.
the time and effort it takes to complete a set in a consistant grade is an effort (imo) that should be rewarded.
some vintage sets are starting to go for more than the sum of the parts. i don't like it, but it is starting to occur.
my interest is mainly vintage football, and i will say that the two national chicle football sets in mastro both brought more than the sum of their parts.
i wanted a few (3) cards from the two sets combined. all three would have upgraded my set. but i am better off (in this case) buying the individual cards vs. buying the set and breaking it to keep the cards i desired.
