I can't get the link to work, but if it's ballpoint pen the ballpoint pen was not around in 1909. I beleive it was invented in the 1930s, but not available to the general public until the 1940s.

As a puppy, one of my dogs (Henry's brother) chewed up a bic ballpoint. He was 1/3 bright blue for about a week.
