Whether in swimming trunks, PJs, a suit, or a base ballist uniform, a ballplayer is a ballplayer.
So the card depicts a ballplayer in what most of us perceive as street clothes, Mr. Mack viewed this as his managing attire.
I now understand why you said what you did, and that you new Connie played, but I still think he's a ballplayer. I recently got Stallings in Cracker Jack (I should say a 1915 Cracker Jack, in case any PSA grader folks are reading this, 'cause they wouldn't know, understand, or care that Stallings is a hi # card and is only in the 1915 set, not in the 144 card set as most of us know). He was a baseball player. And a manager. And is in street clothes. Not many Stallings cards out there.
I used to think that if I managed, I'd do it in a jacket and tie in honor of Mr. Mack. Can't go to the mound or coaches boxes like that, but that's ok.
And I think if Stan Musial shows up at my house one night for supper, dressed in a casual shirt, well.... Mr. Musial is a ballplayer.
