I think you are right in general that SMR can at least be a good guide for the prices of cards relative to others in the set, but sometimes - particularly with caramels - I do not think they are aware of which cards are tougher and therefore demand higher prices in the real market. For example, the E93 Chance is quite a bit tougher than other E93s and demands a premium, but this is not acknowledged, even relative to prices of other E93s (even given that the whole set is undervalued by about 3x-4x).
